I think this is an interesting tool. I like being able to touch up photos if they were going to be exhibited in a magazine or some other, similar fashion. I like the way this image turned out, but I think that this tool gives us too much power to decide what beauty is.

I have trouble with getting technology to accept me as one of their own, so this animation is extremely simple in order to make it actually work for me. I think it is an interesting skill to have, learning how to do an animation, but I don't think it is something I am going to probably do again unless I am displaying my work in a specific way. Even then, I think there are other methods I probably will go to first. In case the animation doesn't show, here are the images I used:
Richard Ross is a photographer who does lots of documentary photography. He uses both images and stories in order to convey his messages. The series I looked at was called "Waiting for the End of the World." This series was created to convey the fear people felt during the Cold War and still feel about nuclear warfare today. Many of the images showed bunkers and other shelters meant to protect families and individuals from the possibility of nuclear bombs falling on their heads. While I am not worried about nuclear warfare in my near future, looking at some of these images created a sense of panic in me an made me worry and think about the possibly of something like this happening soon.
1. Photography aspects are important in order to convey the message wanted in the film the same way it would be in photography.
2. Still photography helps to promote a film by allowing different styles and feelings appear to the audience. 3. Yes, the visuals in this film did help engage the audience. They were well composed images with high contrast and bright colors attracting viewers. I learned that many of the reasons life exists the way it does is because of the fact that life exists at all. I also learned that stills can make a film, not just movement. I had a hard time with the underwater photos. I don't get along very well with most technology and this effect required many steps on photoshop that were hard to follow. I do like the final effect, but my image does not look as good as it could because for some reason my computer did not have the plastic wrap filter or the bubble brush which were needed for this technique.
Installation art is transforming a space in order to portray a message using more than just one medium of art. It often includes transforming a 2-D medium to a 3-D piece of work. Photography can be used in art installation as a 3-D collage. Many images can be used to show a larger image in three dimensions. Out of the photographers we looked at today, my favorite is Lori Vrba because I really like the way she uses other materials to add to the photographs. I think the the shadows and way to she hangs the photos is very interesting and adds a lot to the feeling of the work. The images themselves are also really powerful, but would be lacking if they were on their own, that is why the installation works to well, it make the piece come together.
Both Zena Holloway and Elena Kalis do underwater fashion photography. I really like the technique they use and the way they are able to capture movement. Holloway used color more sparingly while Kalis's images have many more vibrant colors throughout. I personally like Holloway's work better because the color seems more intentional and powerful.
The article at this link: http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/photo-tips/portrait-photography-tips/#page=1 describes some techniques in which to photograph people. The article said that making sure you break the ice and are aware of how the subject might act are important for making sure you create an image in which the subject is seen as they are. It also articulated that making sure you are physically close enough to you subject that you see them well is one of the main problems in portrait photography. The other thing this article talked about was candid photos in which the subject does not know that they are being photographed. In these photos it is important to be a fly on the wall and make sure that you are not getting in the subject's face so that the situation is ruined.
