Sally Mann is a portrait photographer who was born in Lexington, Virginia. Her work focuses on innocence and the loss thereof. Most of her pieces feature young girls who are put in positions seemingly older than they are. Her work is very well composed and the lack of color adds to the theme she is trying to convey.
I like these photos because I feel that they really show the hardships of younger women and are so well composed that the message is shockingly clear.
